Our itinerary for the the wrestling tournament on Sunday the 30th:

Team Captains Sam White and Quint Bartush with Mike Bartush and Luke Villaluz in Danbury for a Freestyle Tournament this past spring
A reminder for the trip to Danbury this weekend: This is an outing intended to familiarize new wrestlers and parents with competition day procedures. There will be an actual competition taking place however no Mad Bulls will be competing. There will be several prior year team members in attendance to answer questions and show some of the new boys “the ropes”.
The team will be at the event for approximately 2 hours after which, family schedules permitting, we will meet up for a team meal at The Sycamore Drive-in (fun place, great food!) 4 miles away headed back towards Norwalk.

We will meet as a group outside of the facility located at 35 Hayestown Rd. in Danbury Ct at 9:00am sharp. Please have your boys in a Mad Bull Wrestling t-shirt for the event. I encourage all the boys to bring a pair of wrestling shoes and shorts as they will get to walk on the mats.
We will walk through the entrance as a group and explain the procedure for checking in a competitor then walk into the facility and show where parents can look for an area to sit together. At all tournaments it is preferable to be seated as a team. We will drop off bags and backpacks, just like on tournament day then walk over to the weigh in area. (10 minutes)
We will walk to the safety check and weigh-in area and watch competitors go through the procedure and answer questions. (10 minutes)
Once all of the competitors have been checked in, they will be grouped into brackets, typically of 4 competitors, according to age and weight. These brackets will be posted somewhere in the facility and we will walk over and explain how to look for your child as well as how the pairings wrestle off to decide a bracket winner. I will print out a few brackets from a previous year tournament to hand out. (15 minutes)
There will be a short period when the coaches can take the boys onto the mats and observe teams warming up as the brackets are filled and preparation continues. Warm ups, stretching and staying loose between matches are a very important part of competition day and this will be a nice opportunity for the boys to be on a competition surface with kids we will likely see throughout the season. We will also take this time to discuss what to bring with you (food/snacks, change of clothes, iPod/iPad, etc.) (15 minutes).
Wrestling starts at 10:00am sharp and things usually go very quickly as some tournaments will have to process as many as 450 kids in a short day. Space permitting, we want to get the boys some time mat-side right on the floor with the competitors. We will take this time to point out things like the duration of periods, a limited amount of the scoring procedure, where parents can and cannot be, where coaches are seated on the floor during a competition etc. We would like to see several brackets wrestle off to completion and this will usually take around an hour for each bracket, but the brackets wrestle concurrently so in less than 2 hours we can follow several wrestlers from the start to end of their competition day. At around 11:30 those wishing to meet for a team lunch can head over to the Sycamore Drive-in Bethel, directions from the Danbury P.A.L. facility will be handed out on Sunday.
Boot Camp 9/29/2012
Our Saturday morning workouts have been well attended and kids are getting fitter every week. Please remember the Mad Bulls start all their workouts promptly as scheduled. Saturday Training starts with a lap at exactly 8:30am so have your Bull there a few minutes early to lace up and drop your water bottles off before beginning.
