Mad Bull Mom and Dads,
Competition Season Begins:
Our Mad Bulls have been training hard for 6 weeks and will start our competition season this Sunday at the “New Milford Kick Off Classic” on Sunday December 13th.
From then til early March the Mad Bulls will compete most weekends in dual meets and/or tournaments. Some of these events are appropriate for advanced wrestlers only, some for novice wrestlers only, and finally some for both advanced and novice wrestlers. The coaches will work with you to determine which events are best suited for your young athlete. You can now view the complete schedule by clicking here “2015 -2016 Competition Schedule.”
Mandatory Parent Meeting:
We will hold a mandatory parent meeting this Wednesday, December 9th at 5:45 in the wrestling room to formally introduce the coaches, discuss the schedule and explain the the parent/wrestler code of conduct. Additionally we will be able to take all your questions.
Black and Blue practice squads:
The wrestler evaluation period has ended and we have broken the wrestlers up into “Black and Blue Squads”. This will allow us to tailor the instruction to the skill level and make better use of both rooms. We will share this information at this weeks practice.
Finally Here is a cool little time lapse video I took in New Milford last year at 6:00 AM anxiously waiting to get underway!
Happy new year to all Mad Bulls!
We hope everyone had a successful 2014 and best wishes to you and your families in 2015. We have now entered into our heaviest competition period. Every weekend over the next month, we will travel to tournaments around Connecticut. The Mad Bulls will face many wrestlers they have not seen before as they build up their resume’s up in advance of the Connecticut State Championships.
Husky Howl Overnighter
Additionally, the club will have one “Overnighter” tournament in New London Connecticut the weekend of January 31st. For that tournament we will leave Saturday mid-day January 31st and stay at a hotel in New London. That evening we will have a team dinner and pool party. It is a great bonding experience for the team away from the practice room and competition mat. The Mad Bulls will then compete the next day before heading back to Norwalk that afternoon. Attached is the Calendar of Events for January that you can reference.
Hey! Mad Bull Mom and Dads,
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving,…. but did not eat too much Turkey! For wrestlers, Thanksgiving marks the traditional end of the conditioning phase of the season and the beginning of the competition season. From now till the end of December the Mad Bulls will compete in a several tournaments and at least 1 dual meet. Many first year wrestlers will get their feet wet with their first match this month, while more experienced wrestlers will be matched up against old rivals.
Not all tournaments are mandatory but rather the coaches will determine which ones are appropriate for each wrestler. Remember, Just as in life, wrestling is about development and growth so some wrestlers will not compete until the coaches think they are mentally and physically ready to go.
Upcoming Quad Sunday December 7th from 3pm to 7pm.
We will be having an Elementary Quad on Sunday Dec 7th at 3-7pm It will be at the Stamford Boys and Girls Club. Teams attending are:
Stamford, Newtown, Ridgefield and Norwalk
Matchups will be determined on Friday and we will communicate out to the parents who has matches.
Coach Haus will be hosting a Spaghetti and Meatball Lunch from 11:30am to 2:00pm prior to the match. It will be a great time for the parents to talk “turkey” and for team bonding as well.
